I designed a new Bartje character for Landal Parks' "Land van Bartje". The theme of the park is based on Anne de Vries' children's book Bartje from 1935.
The family of Bartje is a farm worker's family living in the Dutch province of Drenthe.. The daily routine of working on the land and eating the same food every day is starting to get to Bartje. He starts resisting, especially against the brown beans he has to eat every day. " Ik bid nie veur brune bonen." ( "I won't pray for brown beans")
Bartje refuses to thank God for the brown beans he has to eat every day.
The characters I designed were all vector based. However this Bartje character is my take on a more contemporary Bartje and is solely made in Procreate.
